Coach Sascha Hyer is entering as Wellen Park's first Head Football Coach. This is Coach Hyer's 31st season coaching football. After finishing his playing career at Shepherd College, he started his coaching career as the tight ends coach at Shepherd. From there, he was the offensive line coach at West Virginia Tech. He then spent two years at Wesley College as the Offensive Line coach. In 2000, his offensive line helped lead the way to one of the top offenses in NCAA Division III, averaging over 400 yards of offense per game and 47.8 points per game.
In 2002, Coach Hyer moved to Florida as the defensive coordinator at North Port High. He spent five years as an assistant coach and then, in 2007, became the head coach. After North Port High, Coach Hyer spent 14 years at Venice High School. From 2011–2016 he was the offensive line coach, and then 2017 through 2024 was the defensive line coach.
Along with being the Head Football coach, Coach Hyer is also an Assistant Athletic Director. In the classroom, Coach Hyer is a member of the social studies department and serves as the Department Chair for social studies at WPHS.
Sascha has been happily married to his wife, Kristen, for the last 28 years. Kristen and Sascha are the proud parents of Jake and Maggie. Jake will be graduating this December from the University of West Florida with a bachelor's in music education. He is also a member of the UWF Singers as well as the previous Lead Ambassador of UWF. Maggie will be a Freshman at the University of Central Florida, where she will be majoring in nursing.
