The Booster Club

Eleven play.Everybody else counts.

The 12th Man is the crowd — the twelfth player a football team is allowed to have, as long as enough people show up to be one.

What this is

A brand-new program needs a crowd more than an old one does.

Wellen Park High School opened its doors and, not long after, put a football team on a field. No alumni network. No decades of boosters. No cupboard full of gear handed down from the teams before.

So the 12th Man got started at the same time as the team did — a booster club made up of parents, grandparents, neighbors and local businesses who decided that a program worth having is a program worth funding before it wins anything.

Every dollar goes to the kids. Gear, food, travel, and a sideline that looks like somebody cares.

How to be one

Four ways in

  • 01

    Turn up

    Join the club

12th Man membership comes with two shirts and a parking pass, and the money goes straight into gear, food and travel for the team.

    Sponsor something

If you run a business here, put your name on the gear or the fence. It's advertising that happens to fund a football program.

    Make noise

Share the games, follow the page, tell people the new school has a football team. A program this young lives on word of mouth.
